Our list of local Democratic candidates is growing, and you will meet some of them at this county meeting.  The list won’t be firm until petitions are filed.  The petition signing period this year is February 14 to March 7, and our Notary times will most likely be on Sunday, March 5 and Monday March 6.  Check the website for updates on the free Notary Signing times and places

For the  2017 Judicial races, the State Democratic Party this past weekend unanimously supported Debra Todd in her retention bid.  The first Democratic woman ever to be on the PA Supreme Court, she will, if retained, be on track to become the first woman ever to be Chief Justice of our highest Pennsylvania court.

For the one opening on the Supreme Court, the State Committee endorsed

Dwayne Woodruff.

For the four seats on the Superior Court, the Committee endorsed Geoffrey Moulton, Maria McLaughlin, Carolyn Nichols, and Deborah Kunselman.

Two seats are open on the Commonwealth Court.  The Committee endorsed Todd Eagen but was unable to reach the numbers necessary to endorse for the other seat.  Others seeking election to this court include  Joseph Cosgrove, Ellen Ceisler, Tim Barry, Brian Barbin,  and Irene Clark.
ACTION ACTIVITIES

In many ways these days, people in Lebanon County and across the country protest the policies, appointments, executive orders, and behavior of the new administration.  While LCDC focuses its resources on getting Democrats elected, we are supportive of the many actions underway and try through our speakers, meeting announcements, social media, and website to keep you informed about online organizations as well as local groups in Lebanon and neighboring counties. If you are involved in any such group and have an event or action to publicize, please notify Joel Smith and/or me.  We are all in this together.

COMING EVENTS

The Hispanic Initiative Fundraiser is coming up on March 18th at La Pacita, 6:30 pm.  Suggested donation $25 (or more). Be a sponsor for $100.

Don’t forget our regularly scheduled meetings – L.E.A.D., Executive Committee Meetings (open to all, btw), and the Annville-Cleona Dems meeting.

An exciting Spring Fling is being planned for Friday, April 7th – you won’t want to miss this special night!  NEW LOCATION:  Hebron Hall, 701 E. Walnut St, Lebanon
