Hello Lebanon County Democrats,
It’s February, and the petition-signing window for Pennsylvania’s primary is almost upon us. There are lots of things happening this month, and you’re support means more now than ever before.
But first, we pay tribute to Renee Good and Alex Pretti, two American citizens murdered by agents of the state last month. While there have been some changes to the ICE operations in Minnesota as a result of public outrage, the Department of Homeland Security is moving forward with plans to buy dozens of warehouses (some capable of housing up to 8,000 people) for detaining those they arrest. We’ve seen already that their procedures are cruel, inhumane, and likely illegal. American citizens and others here with appropriate documentation are being caught up in these sweeps. So the changes we’ve seen are only surface-level, they are not true shifts in the overall plans for ICE.
This is just one of the reasons why it’s important to exercise our rights and vote this year. We need to send a message to those in power that we, the people, still believe in our democracy and will do everything we can to preserve it. With that in mind, start planning to sign the petitions for our local, state, and federal candidates so that they’re on the ballot for November. We also need you to run for office! This year, the Lebanon County Democratic Committee will reorganize. We need committee people to keep Lebanon County moving forward. If you’re interested in learning more, email info@lebanondemocrats.com or plan to come to our all county meeting on Tuesday, February 24, at 7 pm at Windmill Art Studios in the Lebanon Valley Mall. You’ll need to collect 10 signatures from registered Democrats in your precinct to get on the ballot for May 19, 2026. The three Democrats who get the most votes in each precinct will become committee members and help steer the commttee over the next four years.

Important Dates & Upcoming Events
- February 17 – first day to circulate nominating petitions
- February 24 – all county meeting and petition signing; 7:00 pm @ Windmill Art Studios, Lebanon Valley Mall
- March 10 – last day to circulate nominating petitions and turn them in
- May 19 – primary election day
More petition signings and events will be scheduled throughout the three weeks from February 17 to March 10, including several office drop-in days. We will send out updates as the logistics are finalized.
